Online shop for Intersport

The goal was to make Intersport.no Norway’s leading website for sport and outdoor life, and the largest online shop within the sports industry.

Intersport has chosen a web solution based on Microsoft’s e-commerce platform, Commerce Server with BizTalk. In combination with EpiServer’s publishing solution, search technology from FAST, and Scene7 media management, this enables the use of Web 2.0 content, with an increased focus on users and their involvement.

Energy calculator for Vattenfall

In April 2008, we were distinguished as an Official Honouree by the jury of the Webby Awards for the Interactive Electricity Consumption Calculator.

The Interactive Calculator is an RIA application that is based on Flex. The aim of the project was to design a web page where it is possible to calculate electricity consumption by a household, the amount of carbon dioxide generated and the estimated value of a monthly electricity bill.

The application offers rich graphic design and an interactive interface allowing intuitive navigation. The calculator is also easy to use. In addition to its rich visual effects, it has also become an effective tool for calculating electricity bills without having to fill in extended forms.

Dixon Grop Plc gathered nine stores that were operating in seven different languages on the same platform.

Dixon Group wished to have one online platform for selling articles in The Czech Republic, Hungary, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway. In addition, the platform had to be adapted to the various chains of stores within the group. Each brand name, e.g. Elkjøp, Elgiganten and Gigantti, were given a unique expression, while at the same time sharing functionality such as shopping solution, publishing solution and search solution.

Portal for the Norwegian Government

The new portal of the Government is the answer to several inquiries from the public

Many people found it difficult to find the information they were looking for among the several thousands of documents offered by the service centre. Therefore, the main objective for regjeringen.no was to make it easier for most people to locate the information they were looking for. The solution included theme-based entries and use of topic maps. Today, regjeringen.no is a meeting place for the Government, the ministries and an active, well-informed population. The portal has had an average of 700,000 monthly visitors during the first month after launching.

Webby Awards 09

Making Waves are distinguished with three Official Honourees by the jury of the Webby Awards 2009 for www.visitnorway.com

The three categories are:
Best viual design - function
Best use of photography
Best site - Tourism

With nearly 70 categories, Website entries make up the majority of Webby Awards Winners, Nominees and Honorees. To be selected among the best is an incredible achievement worthy of praise -- and perhaps a little bragging.

Of the nearly 10,000 entries submitted to the 13th Annual Webby Awards, fewer than 15% were distinguished as an Official Honoree. This honor signifies an outstanding caliber of work.

Award for Design Excellence

Visitnorway.com received the Award for Design Excellence 2009 in the category interactive design.

In spite of containing enormous amounts of information, visitnorway.com appears as a user-friendly and clear website. Attractions are categorized in a good manner, and it is evident that the developers have been able to put themselves in the users’ place. Developers have dared to decide that some content is more important than other content, and prioritized the design accordingly, which represents a major innovation in websites of this kind.

There is clear, safe and good navigation with topic maps, and the additional information at the bottom of the page makes users independent of the global menu structure. The pages have a rigid and secure layout, airy typography and a very good use of pictures on all levels – which is rarely seen. Even the colour palette is reflected consistently in the pictures. Visitnorway.com is a well-balanced, good looking and successful web solution.

Good numbers in 2008

The group’s 2008 turnover was 115.3 million NOK, compared to 94.1 million NOK in the previous year.

Earnings before tax (EBT) was 15.2 million NOK for the group and 16.8 million NOK for the parent company. This gives a profit margin of 13.2 percent for the group and 14.8 percent for the parent company. The growth in 2008 has strengthened Making Waves’ marketing position, and with a new CEO, new distinctions and continuously more success stories on our résumé, we believe that we will experience good development in 2009, in spite of an insecure market.
